In this guide, we’ll cover the basic things you need to know about Apple One, in the simplest way possible.
What is Apple One?
Say you have 4 kids in different classes in the same school. In lieu of paying the tuition for each child individually, the school offers a package that allows you to make a one-time (reduced) payment for all 4 kids’ tuition. That’s exactly what Apple One is. Apple has a wide range of subscription-based products and services under its umbrella. Apple Music, iCloud Storage, Apple TV+, etc. Think of these as the kids. And Apple, the school. Launching in over 100 countries globally, Apple One is a single plan that gives users access to a combination of Apple’s subscription-based products and services, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, etc. You wouldn’t have to worry about getting multiple receipts and invoices in your email every month. With Apple One, all you get is a single invoice for all Apple services that you’re subscribed to. Three (3) Apple One bundles were unveiled at the launch event in California. Find their details and pricing information below.
Apple One Bundles and Price
For five extra dollars ($5), the Family bundle gives you 150GB more iCloud storage than the Individual plan. Plus the ability to share your subscription with up to six family members. And that’s it. For the price, that’s still a fair bargain. And for $10 extra, the top-tier Premier bundle gives users (plus up to six family members) access to six (6) Apple services and 1.8TB extra iCloud storage space.
Cost Implications: Are You Saving Money or Paying More?
Now, speaking about value proposition of the plans, we discovered that the subscribing to an Apple One bundle saves you money than subscribing to the services individually. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what the services in the Apple One bundles cost vs their individual subscription prices. As detailed in the table above, subscribing to the Apple One Individual plan will save you $6 monthly. For the Family plan, you’ll paying $8 less than you normally would for the included services. The Premier plan is where it get more interesting. You’ll be paying $24.99 less than the original costs of the services every month. Apple also says that subscribing to the Apple One bundle will give users a 30-day free trial to services they previously didn’t have. If you’re subscribed to the Individual plan, you are qualified for free 30-days access to any of the services in the bundle that you have never used.
One Plan, More Value
As mentioned earlier, Apple One will be available in over 100 countries. However, the Premier plan will only be available in a select regions like Canada, UK, US, and Australia. It isn’t clear if Apple would be adding more services to the Apple One bundles but we anticipate that they would in the nearest future. You can learn more about Apple One here on Apple’s website.
